Im looking to get help on a computer I have one to exchange that doesnt work its out dated and one that does not work well for school . Im starting classes for medical office soon.
I am a single disabled mother of a one and a half year old daughter, and trying to continue to push forward every day, overcoming all the obstacles that are thrown in front of me. Currently I am attending college and working towards three computer majors. I want to start a company that will get women more interested and excited about the computer field. I would like this company in the long run to provide college scholarships and jobs for women going into the computer field. Also, I want to be a positive influence in other women’s lives and show them that even if they are disabled or raising a child on their own, that they can do anything. I was wondering if anyone could help direct me to a grant that could help get this started.

I'm in need of a Vehicle to get back and for to work. I had to give up my job because of no transportation. Also I haven't seen my son( in 3 years along with my daughter who is 14) who just joined the Army and has Basic Training May 8,2012 and want's to see me before shipping out after Graduation. Also his sister lives with him an their dad. I have hit rock bottom. Jeep got repo 3 years ago after moving to NC. I'm an hour from Charlotte if anyone can help. Looking for a free laptop also. Also a good paying job if anyone can help. I have to pay child support.
I'm currently working as a online faculty member for a number of colleges located in the U.S. I reside in the Philippines in the province of Pampanga. I teach information technology classes to students attending college online. This is my full time job and with so much free time I've begun traveling to different regions of the Philippines. As long as I don't wander to far off the grid I have Internet access.
In my travels I like to stop and visit the rural schools and see what I can do as far as providing some type of tech support or other help with any issues the schools maybe having with technology.
More often than not these schools don't have a single computer for teaching computer literacy to their students. My hope is that if any readers have some older desktops, laptops, monitors and mice and keyboards they plan to donate and they could be refurbished, they'll consider putting the recyclables into a shipping container called a balikbayan box http://www.balikbayanbox-shipping.com/. These are shipping containers that can be picked up at different locations in most cities and from just about any Filipino grocery store in your area.
I have central point of contact that I use for all packages:
Janis Salipot Serrano
53-A Abad Santos Street
Plaridel 1 Malabanias
Angeles City, Pampanga, Phillipines
2009
I've received balikbayan boxes containing computer parts but the CRT or the old style monitors just don't hold up well. If you have some flat panels that need to be recycled, those would be best. The parts don't have to be working though I prefer they just need to be cleaned up. I have others here that have offered there time and expertise in repairing the items.
My Skype is ckrahenbill and my Magic jack phone number is 520-812-0246. Thanks and have a great day!

I'm a resident at a sober living facility in Big Bear Lake, CA
There are 10+ individuals living at the sober living.
Many things are done online now, (ex: job applications) and many of the residents at my sober living have limited or no knowledge of computers.
If there would be any possible way to receive a donation of a computer(s) I believe it would benefit us all greatly. With my knowledge of computers and a donation of computer(s) I feel it would change the lives of these individuals and prepare them for a better future.

Hi,
We are a family living in the West Georgia area and we are currently in need of a laptop computer for school work. I am looking for any resources that would allow me to purchase a laptop computer at a really good discount or for free (if resources are available). I am currently homeschooling and my resources are very limited. I am searching for a laptop specifically due to our schedule and need for portability.
My son is 11 and is special needs. I am looking for information on computers built especially for children with certain needs. He doesn't need it to communicate, but I would like one that is sturdy and doesn't break easily software wise. I am retired Navy and our budget is limited. Anyone have any info?

Hello everyone! I am a Sunday school/Bible club teacher and live in the Appalacian area of WV. My students are very low income and I want to teach a 13 yr old boy to read. I would like to help the other students to do better in school too. The parents don't care and there are so many drugs in this mountain area ( go figure). I want these kids to turn out different and I would really love to have a computer to help them out and also for me to find books, lessons, etc. to help them. This is a big need and I hope and pray someone can answer that prayer. I moved here from Ohio leaving all my family and friends and I think God sent me here to make a difference. I am on SSI and barely make it myself. My church is so small, there isn't much money there. I love these children very much. Please pray for the children in my fold and ask Jesus to let this happen for us. God Bless you all ! :) Have a very wonderful day.

Computers and electronics produce tons of waste, some of it very toxic. Surplus computers and monitors can be recycled or refurbished and provided to a family or service organization desperately in need of technology. Below are a few links to recycling programs and non-profits that help get used equipment into the hands of needy residents here and elsewhere. The City of Seattle recycles its surplus computers and makes them available to Seattle schools and non-profit organizations. Some recyclers charge a required disposal or an administrative fee. For the non-profit recyclers, the fees reduce their costs and help support community learning programs.
The City has worked with a few local recyclers who also distribute computers to organizations or families and teach people to use them. These include:
Interconnection.org, Seattle Community Network, WildTech and the OnIT Foundation.
Nationally, TechSoup has been helping develop the electronics reuse field. Their work is also twofold: divert significantly greater amounts of discarded material from landfills to reduce toxic computer waste, and create positive social change by making discarded computers available to schools, nonprofits, and low-income families.
The City surpluses hundreds of computers each year. These computers, which are usually about three years old, are provided for free to Seattle based nonprofit human service agencies and schools that serve Seattle residents. If your group is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that serves Seattle residents, you may be eligible to receive surplus computers. For more information, email or call Charleen Perras at (206) 684-0124 or download an application from the Web.
Where you can donate or get free or low-cost computers
InterConnection works to make Internet technology accessible to underserved populations both locally and globally. From their home in Seattle, they refurbish and distribute computers around the world. InterConnection operates the Computer Reuse and Learning Center (CRLC) in Seattle. Along with refurbishing computers for non-profits, InterConnection teaches computer maintenance and repair skills to local community members, donates computers to people who volunteer at the CRLC, runs a virtual volunteer program, conducts training, and provides a means for recycling non-working or old computers and monitors.
SCN Computer Giveaway
The Computer Giveaway Project has been part of Seattle Community Network (SCN), a free ISP, since 1994 and the computers have always been given away free. SCN remains, as always, an all-volunteer project. Though agencies have first priority, individuals can also request computers. If you belong to a technology center, community group, church, daycare center or school and would like to find computers for your families, SCN would be happy to work with you. Contact them at computergiveaway@scn.org.
WildTech (WTA)
The Wilderness Technology Alliance operates two project-based technology programs. Students in their WildTech statewide student-based A+ certification / computer refurbishing program re-deploy computers to needy schools and families across the state. Students in their project-based multimedia program assist in the production of CD-ROMs and web sites.
WTA partners with school districts and community centers across Washington. To donate computers to WildTech, please click here http://www.wildtech.org/donate.htm.
The On It Foundation (Opportunities Necessary to Increase Technology) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization provide free in-home computers, via donation of surplus and purchased computers, to low-income families with students in grades K-12 that reside within the U.S. To qualify for a free in-home computer, the student must receive a free or reduced school lunch from his/her public school. They also provide training in some areas.
For those individuals that do not qualify for a free in-home computer, the On It Foundation offers the Jump On It Program, a computer guarantee program that allows all individuals to purchase a computer, regardless of credit.
The On It Foundation provides in-home computer training and free Internet access to those in some areas. In addition, the On It Foundation works in partnership with local CTCs, digital divide organizations and initiatives, churches and schools.
